Was brewing Phil. But unfortunately the seller couldn't wait and sold it on me even after he promised that he will hold it until site John (fishcop) viewed the car today for me. He accepted an over the phone, site unseen offer. So to all the newbies looking for a $40k Aus delivered 911, be prepared to buy site unseen, because if you don't someone else will!
Quick thanks to John & Hugh for their help and info.

Considering it was advertised on carsales late Friday I think it did ok. The owner couldn't confirm that it was Aus delivered.

There have been some cars over here in the west that have gone to the east sight unseen, sold within hours of hitting the market.

Crazy times. As long as you can trust the seller considering the amount of scams on carsales. You may end up with an orange Datsun 180B!

If it was Aussie delivered and he took his time I suspect he could have got 50% more for it . . . $60k at least. Assuming of course that the rust wasn't anything too serious.

It was an Australian delivered car. Still in original signal orange.

Agree with you Nick. Car was definitely Aus delivered as confirmed by Hugh. Although I estimated just from the photos that it needed at least $25k of body work. Full respray, panel damage rear quarter, door and front. Also not knowing what the mechanicals are like.

Sounds very familiar Peter, you are having a bad run.
If it's any consolation my efforts to buy that early car was a lot of effort for zero return!

Makes me realise what a dream run I had on the two 68 cars I bought earlier this year - and I sat on them over 12 months contemplating if it was a good idea. I did have a quality seller though :p

I wonder if that's what it's come to now - if you hear of something, you just grab it and hope for the best? I do suspect that this discussed car was one of those - if it's been confirmed as as an Aussie delivery and it's roughly complete I think we've all worked out it's a $40k car...

Maybe it's a sign Chris. Stay away from interstate cars.
